Operate, troubleshoot and maintain assigned digital network systems in the Northern NJ area. Performs periodic updates and upgrades as required to maintain up to date operational status on assigned systems. Consistently performs periodic maintenance procedures and back-ups as required to insure high reliability and failover capability. Maintains an inventory of spare equipment and ensures a high degree of availability. Assist in the planning and implementation of new product deployments. Provide office record documentation to technical workforce in support of new and existing system deployment. Performs all assigned duties with minimal supervision.
Utilize IP transports including electrical, optical and coaxial transport mediums to meet objectives.
Implement new technologies or capacity enhancements to existing services.
Create, maintain, and improve documentation on assigned systems.
Keeps software on assigned systems up to date using approved upgrade procedures.
Performs routine checks, maintenance, back-ups on assigned systems.
Maintains inventory of spare equipment with current software versions.
Troubleshoots and repairs assigned systems in conjunction with coworkers and vendors.
Submits change management and notification process as required for all scheduled work
Initiates escalation process as required when failures occur.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives


Required Skills:
Experience with supporting NT, Windows 2000, Linux/UNIX systems and Intel x86 hardware production systems in a mission-critical 7x24 environment.
Basic understanding of MPEG 2 encoding fundamentals, structure and statistical multiplexing.
Basic networking skills and understanding of network structure, design and troubleshooting.
Understanding of IGMP v2 and v3.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Knowledge of cable television products and services.
Advanced knowledge of PC hardware, software and the internet and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve related service failures.
Excellent organizational and communications skills.
Understanding of conditional access, Motorola and Scientific Atlanta headends.

Preferred 2 -3 CATV or IP network experience
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
High school diploma or equivalent
A+ or equivalent PC experience preferred.
