Title:  Data Engineer

 

Education Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Telecommunications engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) certified institution. 

 

Experience Requirements:

 

Desired candidate will have strong problem solving and analytical skills and 5 years experience in designing and supporting Wide Area Network Technologies, including Routers, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Networks (VPN).

 Must have knowledge of IP and routing protocol design, configuration and troubleshooting in a LAN/WAN environment.

Cisco Certified Network Administration certification is desired but not required.

Network experience with cellular wireless systems, satellite systems or telecommunications is a plus.

Candidate must be capable of working in both a project and operational environment.

Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel

Knowledgeable in the setup and use of Windows OS, Linux OS, Solaris OS

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

- Design, test, integrate, document, and troubleshoot customer data and voice networks over satellite, cellular wireless and terrestrial networks. 

- Network infrastructure design, testing and documentation using Switches, Routers and Firewalls utilizing Frame Relay, IPSEC, BGP, EIGRP, GRE, in a multi vendor environment.

- Manage firewall integration and VPN connectivity to customers and roaming partners.

- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches and/or other related hardware and software providing services to customer networks.

- Produce and/or coordinate system documentation.

- Provide after hours engineering support for the Operations team and customer care.
