Foundry Networks is seeking a Corporate Systems Engineer to provide technical marketing support for the company’s line of high end and service provider routers and switches.
The successful candidate will be part of a product management and marketing team. In this role, the candidate is expected to develop and maintain both technology and product subject matter expertise in order to support the team’s efforts. The candidate will be responsible for competitive analysis and bake-offs, solution testing and validation, developing application notes, trade show support as well as sales support activities including customer demonstrations and presentations.
Job Description
The candidate must be knowledgeable in IP, Ethernet, and routing/switching protocols. Hands-on experience with test equipment from vendors such as Ixia and Spirent is highly valuable. The successful candidate will be working closely with marketing, engineering, sales, and customer support, performing a highly valued role as a technical expert on the company’s flagship products and associated networking applications. Foundry provides hands-on training and ongoing access to lab equipment to help its Corporate Systems Engineers develop their product specific skills and grow their technology expertise.
This position requires some travel (~ 1-3 days per month).
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Creating presentations, white papers, and solution guides to educate field engineers and customers on solution strengths and best practices
Assisting field engineers with large/strategic accounts acting as a technical expert on product and network design topics
In-depth competitive analysis including competitive testing and compiling competitive reports / presentations
Experience and Education
BS-10-12 years or MS-7-10 years of experience in Engineering, Computer Science, EE or related field, and/or the equivalent work experience in related field.
Minimum of 5 years networking industry experience
Strong technical background and understanding of Ethernet switching, routers, and IP protocols
Thorough knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, services and applications including Ethernet, Metro Ethernet, IPv4, MPLS, MPLS VPNs, and QoS.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience delivering customer presentations and developing white papers / application notes
Due to the complex and dynamic nature of the high end routing and switching space, candidate must posses a keen technical mind capable of quickly grasping new technologies.
Pre-sales and/or post-sales experience is desired (e.g., Sales Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, Product Marketing Engineer)
Knowledge of IPv6, VoIP, SONET, ATM, Frame Relay, TDM, DSL, and/or cable technologies is a plus.
Hands-on experience and expertise with test equipment such as Spirent, Ixia, and/or Agilent.
