Communications Technician (Blue Springs, MO)

CommTech 1 is an entry-level field position, and typically the start of the employee's cable television career. Continued employment is contingent upon achieving required technical and safety certifications. Under limited supervision the CommTech 1 performs routine disconnects and pre-wires for residential and business customers in accordance with Comcast procedures and practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
*Perform requested and non-pay disconnects, adhering to Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements, and local ordinances in order to provide requested services.
*Pre-wire single unit dwellings in order to provide ready hook-up capabilities.
*Clean, maintain and stock vehicle and equipment in order to be prepared to perform required duties.
*Inspect existing ground or make new ground according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) in order to protect employees, customers, and equipment from electrical shock or damage. *Complete associated paperwork with each work order in a timely manner in order to ensure all details of the work are recorded for entry in the customer's account once the work is checked in.

During the course of normal day-to-day activities:
*Properly operate and maintain installation tools and equipment.
*Report need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed.
*Report any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate.
*Apply knowledge and skills of training on the job in order to prepare for transition to CommTech 2.
*Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve objectives.
*Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Required Skills:
*High school diploma or GED equivalence.
*The ability to work in a fast-paced, troubleshooting environment.
*Prefer at least 6 months of sales experience, including retention, upselling and upgrading techniques.
*Resolves problems utilizing a well-thought out strategy.
*Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
*Fosters an environment that accepts and embraces change.
*Exhibits behavior that demonstrates inclusion and respect for coworkers, customers, and other personnel.
*Actively pursues learning and self-development.
*The position requires both indoor and outdoor work environments in all sorts of weather conditions.
*Prior work experience in an outdoor environment is preferred.
*Prior experience utilizing hand tools is preferred.
*Must adhere to Comcast Safety Programs.
*All technicians must maintain a weight of 270 pounds or less.
*Must be able to perform job from high places (on poles, ladders and roofs).
*Good physical fitness, including the ability to lift and handle ladders and carry loads of at least 70 pounds, is a must.
*Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
*Must pass pre-employment testing.
*Extensive local travel. Ability to work overtime, as needed.

*No verbal or written warning within six months of application for this position
*No excessive attendance problems
