Communications Technician 4 Port Murray, New Jersey
Eastern Division (North / Central New Jersey
* Perform forward and reverse HFC network troubleshooting calls; from the customer'ss equipments back to the OTN or Headend.
* Survey the plant in order to ensure service availability to potential subscribers.
* Perform underground location of existing plant using system prints and cable locating equipment in order to prevent cable damage and service interruption.
* Respond to and repair service interruptions, "on call"; as required.
* Perform CLI ride-out and track and repair leakage as necessary.
* Perform construction maintenance duties, customer drop installations complete from tap to customer equipment in single, multi-family dwellings, including prewired units; perform installations according to Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements and local ordinances in order to provide services to the customer.
* Inspect existing bond or make new bond according to the National Electrical Code (NEC).
* Complete associated paperwork with each work order in a timely manner in order to ensure all details of the work are recorder for entry in the customer's account once the work is checked in.
* Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objective.
* Perform FCC P.O.P. testing during the maintenance window of 12 AM to 6 AM.
* Perform mandatory overtime as needed.
* Rotating shift.
* The Comm Tech 4 will be expected to function with an increasing degree of proficiency and a decreasing degree of supervision with regard to those skills and tasks for which training and instruction are received during tenure in this position.
* Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Required Skills:
* High school diploma or the recognized equivalent.
* Ability to read general layouts from blueprints, cable installation, tools and hand tools experience preferred
* Bucket truck certification
* Knowledge of NEC, NESC, OSHA and various state and local codes.
* Valid NJ driver’s license with good driving record.
* 1 1/2 years as installer trainee or with CATV or related technical exposure.
* Climb poles, lift and carry 70 lbs or more.
* Must have good attendance record.
* Ability to work overtime, as needed.
