Transportation Analyst 2 Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to provide data, through metrics and reports, to the Corporate Transportation team -- (1) analyze domestic inbound shipments to support efficient, timely, cost-effective delivery of product, (2) supply systems support for lane optimization studies, (3) provide transportation and logistical support to marketing and engineering teams, and (4) provide transportation and logistical support to our Puerto Rico operations. Nature and Scope: The Transportation Analyst 2 is responsible for extracting data from disparate systems (PKMS, ProVia, SQL, SAP, Carrier and Freight Payment web platforms), formatting output for review and on-going trend analysis of shipping volume from vendors via, LTL, FTL, airfreight and small package carriers. Incumbent must produce comprehensive metrics and reports to senior management. Responsible for coordination of U.S. Export declaration processes and accurate commodity classification Responsible for documenting processes, publishing routing guides, and managing carrier set-up for marketing and collateral vendors and fulfillment locations. Responsibilities: - Secure data to support analysis of short and long term transportation strategy plans with Transportation Manager and Director - Manage Transportation data (including data import, Excel and Access files, queries, SQL, and various carrier web platforms) to produce monthly performance/compliance/quality audit metrics - Support Transportation Analysts with compilation of carrier/consolidator/vendor lane studies - requires excellent Excel skills (including pivot tables, macros, v-lookup, charts and graphs). - Develop performance metrics to support continuous improvement programs - Develop operational reports to support root-cause analysis - Support quarterly business reviews process - Provide cost data to support comprehensive impact analysis of proposed supply chain changes - Maintain monthly & Fiscal YE Calendar. - Communicate and trouble shoot phone calls - Assist in development of comprehensive process documentation to support training of vendors and buyers - Raise unresolved issues to Analyst and/or Manager Communications Skills: Requires good Customer Service skills -- ability to communicate effectively with team members, DC, suppliers and multiple internal cross-divisional organizations to support corporate-wide objectives. Build and maintain cooperative working relationships, inside the department as well as with others. Contributing to team development and performance to achieve end results, objectives or goals. Ability to represent company effectively in dealings with customers and suppliers is essential. This person must be self-motivated, enjoy detailed analysis and have the ability to craft innovative solutions. Contacts: Extensive contact with Distribution Centers, suppliers, Finance, Accounts Payable, Freight Payment auditor and Transportation providers. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a college degree in business and a successful background in retail/manufacturing. Possess excellent systems skills -- ability to mine and merge data from multiple operating systems, databases and software programs. Excellent PC skills essential -demonstrated ability to produce effective reports and metrics using Microsoft Excel and Access. Working knowledge of multiple carrier tariffs preferred.
