AIN Design Engineer (WL) Atlanta, GA 30302 Description:Maintain the software databases in the Advanced Intelligent Network (Wireline and Wireless) within Cox Communications. Responsible for limited provisioning of Cox digital telephone switch tables and customer lines via servord. Fully maintain multiple Telcordia ISCP servers and Cognitronics CX4000 devices. Coordinate with the field personnel to ensure all software retrofits regarding Telcordia ISCP AIN servers are completed within schedule. Assist Customers (Corporate / Systems) with all call related issues with ability to perform accurate analysis of call flow and message interpretation. Maintain certain value added services (VAS) solutions for the COX wireless environmentPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Implementing all vendor software patches & retrofits associated with AIN ISCP servers. Apply software changes and corrections to insure uniform application of all software corrections across the entire network.2. Responsible for a variety of mobile value added service (VAS) solutions across a variety of Cox owned and or ASP hosted service platforms. Designs solutions and conducts extensive lab evaluations and integration testing of network solutions and document results. Develops network sub-system and element functional and technical specifications based upon marketing, business, and network operations requirements. Mobile VAS services may include Call Divert, SIM ring, CNAM Forward.3. Interface with the NOC staff to resolve hardware and software problems.4. Provision all subscriber and translations data within AIN ISCP tables and servers.5. Assist DBA in maintaining all Neura Gateways related to AIN services (PRI trunking / 2B Transfer).6. Ensure Telcordia AIN ISCP database is provisioned to accept all incoming AIN triggers from Cox switch markets.7. Responsible for editing and filtering all data with AIN application via MOC server.8. Interface with other departments to resolve AIN, TCAP, ISDN, WIN, and SS7 related problems.9. Work on call rotation 24 x 7 for support of AIN Network.10. Provide Tier 1-2-3 support for all Telcordia ISCP AIN equipment.11. Responsible for opening / closing of all Remedy AIN related trouble tickets12. Work closely with SS7, Switch, and Voicemail engineers to resolve service issues.13. Working autonomously at times off site and after hours.Qualifications:Hardware and Signaling Experience Recommended:V.35DSXTekelec STPTelcordia AIN ISCP database Nortel DMS and/or Lucent 5ESSSigtran and SIPDS0, DS1, & DS3 Network architecture and topologyCognitronic CX4000OS & Software Experience Recommended:UNIX/AIX/SOLARISMicrosoft Excel, Visio, WordSS7/Network Protocol AnalyzerREQUIREMENTS:-BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent industry experience. -5-8 years of experience in related field Certification required in some areas-An understanding of technology standards and specifications related to SS7 / digital switching, transmissions systems, SONET transmission systems, network management or related telecommunications systems is required.-An understanding of AIN & SS7 functionality is required.-Ability to work with minimum supervision, quickly learn on the job in a fast paced environment, and proactively contribute as an experienced subject matter expert.-Hands on technical experience working with/maintaining a telephone switch (legacy and wireless) database is required.-Working knowledge of TDM and IP based fixed network technology that includes design, implementation, and operations of soft switching, TCP/IP, VoIP, Mobile IP, SIP, Sigtran, MAP, SS7, ISUP, WIN, and IMS in the mobile network environment.-Experience in communicating with technical and multi-disciplinary audiences across all levels of an operating company including operations, management, and executive organizations.-Proficient in using standard computer hardware and software systems.-Must understand be able to understand & interpret networking diagrams including the roles and responsibilities of Routers, load balancers, firewalls, DHCP server (TFTP/KDC/TOD) and IP addressing/sub netting. Knowledge of signaling, call flow and voice path with the following protocols: TCP/IP, UDP/RUDP, MGCP, SIP, SS7, RTP.-Excellent troubleshooting skills relating to SCP platforms/solutions, and understanding each components role and responsibility.-Dept/Org Scope & Impact - Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments that have direct impact on department and area results. -Problem Complexity - Performs full range of standard professional level work that typically requires processing and interpreting, Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve more complex, less clearly-defined issues. -Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information or inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.-Autonomy - Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues; Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct 'customers' of the process.-Knowledge - Fast leaner/Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately complex assignments.
