Immediate opportunity north of Boston for an Mechanical Engineer! Leading consumer products corporation seeks top talent with complex plastics packaging background to become part of their engineering team. The ideal candidate will have had direct hands on experience and a great team player attitude. A very convenient location that is close to all.
Responsibilities
Play a critical role in the Packaging group taking designs from the Research group and working to commercialize the design
Improving designs for robustness and high volume manufacturing
Responsible for driving projects in accordance with the agreed upon designs and performance criteria, schedules, and cost targets
Create robust solutions for complex packaging designs involving environmental, mechanical and thermal limitations
Creatively resolve technical issues that can be implemented on a mass production scale
Lead small technical teams and technicians in delivering product development to the program milestones
Develop cost effective designs in selection of materials and manufacturing methods, conducting the appropriate analysis and computer modeling to determine optimum solutions
Requirements
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or advanced degree in Engineering or Manufacturing a plus
5 to 8 years’ experience in injection molding, thermoforming and plastic welding techniques of high volume parts and 3 to 5 years’ experience in developing products from early concept to finished product
Track record of driving projects in accordance with schedules, performance goals and cost targets
Computer proficiency – SolidWorks, Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, etc
A cross discipline understanding of fundamental engineering as they relate to product design and high volume manufacturing
Experience in food industry or disposable medical product a plus
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
This position requires 15% travel
