Senior Cognos Business Intelligence Developer
TrueBlue has an opening for a Senior Cognos Business Intelligence Developer at our Corporate Headquarters in Tacoma, WA. TrueBlue is seeking a Senior Cognos Business Intelligence Developer with demonstrated experience in BI tools and technology to resolve complex reporting and analytical needs of the company. The Senior Cognos Business Intelligence Developer will provide technical leadership of BI development, administer and support applications, establish best-practices, and mentor other team members. This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Tacoma, WA. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Lead, design and develop Cognos models, reports and cubes. - Perform detailed documentation of design, development, testing and deployment activities. - Administer installation, configuration, and software upgrades of Cognos applications. - Collaborate with the infrastructure team for supporting Cognos servers (recover servers in case of any failures/shutdown). - Support migration of Cognos models, reports and cubes from one environment to another. - Maintain source/version control for Cognos models, reports and cubes. - Work with Cognos Support to monitor, update, track, resolve and close tickets. - Develop interfaces using Cognos SDK. - Establish Best Practices for Cognos environment. - Mentor other team members. - Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: - BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. - Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support). - 5 years of development and administrative experience with Cognos BI products (Series 7 and 8, and ReportNet) and 8 years of IT experience. - Excellent knowledge of Cognos 8 BI Suite (Query Studio, Report Studio, PowerPlay Transformer, Metrics Studio, Event Studio, Framework Manager, administration). - Extensive experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly SQL Server to include tuning SQL query performance. - Familiarity with data warehouse functions and ETL concepts to include experience with dimensional and relational data modeling. - Experience with customer and production support. - Extensive experience in data analysis, design, and integration. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to both senior internal and external parties. - Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
