Pro/E Mechanical Designer

This client places a premium on innovative design, product and service solutions.Job Summary:Prepare design layouts, detail and assembly drawings, bills of material, and schedule completion of documentation.Major Responsibilities:Prepare design layouts, including the selection of components, materials, finishes and shop processes necessary to assure design control and fit for purpose, easily manufactured and serviced designs.Perform tolerance studies and make related calculations.Prepare detail and assembly drawings in accordance with appropriate recognized standards.Perform rigorous check for quality of own work and possibly work of other designers and drafters.Coordinate with other departments and schedule completion of documentation. Collaborate with other designers/drafters as required. Schedule and assign work to drafters as required by engineer or senior designer.Participate in prototype development and assembly as directed by engineer or senior designer.Perform other work related tasks and contribute to design standards/methods improvements.Qualifications:Vocational training in a technical discipline or equivalent with 2-4 years experience in a mechanical design function.Good expertise with Pro-E Wildfire 3.0 and Pro/Intralink 3.4 M20, or SolidWorks 3-D computer aided design packages.Good familiarity with manufacturing methods (welding, machining, coating, material traceability, etc).Ability to independently initiate and implement complete component level designs reliably and with high quality.This position is a six month contract-to-hire engagement. Local Southern California candidates preferred (a relocation package is not being offered at this time). US Citizen or Permanent Resident status required.
