A Developer works within the Allegis Group system development lifecycle (SDLC) to develop software applications that meet business requirements. Primary responsibilities include review of requirements to ensure understanding of business needs, level of effort analysis, application design and development, unit testing, applicable design and code reviews, development support for functional and load testing, and code documentation. For applicable vendor products, responsibilities may include vendor contact, installation and unit testing of software, trouble-shooting and related system administration duties. The Developer is also expected to take ownership within the development efforts of the assigned service area. This role reports to the Financial Services Manager in the Allegis Group Information Services (IS) Department.Essential Role Responsibilities- Develop knowledge of the application, system development tools, and the technology procedures and standards within an assigned service area; stay informed of changing technology. - Have an in-depth knowledge of industry best-practice software development processes; mentor others in them; and work to adapt Allegis Group processes as appropriate. - Have an in-depth functional knowledge of at least two of the seven PeopleSoft financial modules. . (GL, AP, AR, BI, PC, CA, PO) - Work with the technical lead to ensure the consistency of technology solutions, development, and documentation across the service area applications for all work units. - Work to translate the customer’s business needs into a technological solution. - Thoroughly review business and system requirements to obtain full understanding of business needs. - Develop accurate level of effort (LOE) estimates; review LOEs for others; and assist others in creating their LOEs. - Design as well as develop or modify applications that fully implement business requirements as well as maintain the integrity of the architecture and incorporate best-practice designs. - Document software designs and code changes. - Conduct design reviews and code reviews. - Install, maintain, and unit test vendor-supplied application software as necessary. - Provide development support for analysis, functional testing, load testing, and user acceptance testing. - Coordinate or assist in the coordination of efforts with other IS service areas. - Provide or assist in providing root cause analysis on technical service problems and failures. - Provide production application support, including after hours work. - Provide technical and functional mentoring to other members of the technical staff. - Assist in the technical and functional guidance of contractors. - Assist in the technical assessment of applicants within the IS Department hiring process.Additional responsibilities could include the following: - Provide input on the technical architecture regarding technology direction and requirements within the service area. - Assist in developing technical assessments of current and proposed work units. - Set up environments for development, testing, and production.
