Livestock Specialist Needed ASAP!

Livestock Specialist Job Description: The Livestock Specialist Associate is a sales/consulting position.  He/she meets regularly with local livestock producers providing information, identifying issues and opportunities and making recommendations.  Their goal is to assist the livestock producer with meeting their production and economic goals. Job Responsibilities:  Analyzing feedstuffs, records, feeding systems, buildings and animal environments. Sourcing information relating to feeder stock producers and availability of feeder stock animals. Analyzing feeding programs and making appropriate recommendations. Offering techniques and solutions to improve genetics, environment, herd health, body condition, and feeding management. Selling the livestock products and services offered by the cooperative. Evaluating the economics of current and/or proposed production and management programs. Consistently seeking out and calling on new business prospects. Staying current in technological advances and management practices. Will continuously network to assist producers with swine integration opportunities. Understand and evaluate feed margins on a monthly basis. Assist producers with herd expansion emphasizing improvements in efficiencies gained by production technology advancement in buildings and genetics. Requirements:  Normally requires a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Animal Science with a swine specialization or emphasis desired. Two-three years of experience in animal production agriculture involving swine and beef. Experience with swine sourcing, integration opportunities.
