Energy Engineering / Sustainable Design Consultants
Energy Engineering / Sustainable Design Consultants
A nationally recognized large commercial and industrial energy efficiency consulting and sustainable design firm is seeking candidates who are interested in either or both tracks within our Energy Division.
These positions are for our La Crosse or Milwaukee, WI offices, and potentially for a west coast office, which we plan to open in the next year. Regardless of the eventual work location, three to six months of training in our La Crosse home office is required.Â
Some travel is required for both positions.Â
Energy Engineer: Our Energy Engineering consultant will be responsible to provide engineering solutions for energy conservation and energy cost-saving projects in commercial and industrial, facilities. Energy projects will be for both new construction and retrofitting of existing buildings.
Specific needs include retrocommissioning, measurement and verification, industrial and process-related energy efficiency, and custom calculation development for all types of commercial and industrial systems such as HVAC, chilled water, steam, industrial refrigeration, and compressed air. These are just a few systems and technologies we regularly analyze.
Opportunities include leading on-site investigations, developing energy conservation solutions, calculating energy and energy cost savings, building simulations with DOE-2, estimating project costs and performing life cycle cost analysis, and report writing.Â
Sustainable Design Engineer: Our Sustainable Design Engineer will be responsible for reviewing building designs in the early stages of development and recommend energy-saving alternatives to baseline, or conventional equipment and systems. Energy-saving alternatives will be simulated using DOE-2 (Visual DOE or eQuest), and many times using a combination of building simulator and custom calculation as designs incorporate features that DOE-2 does not accommodate.Â
The sustainable design engineer may also facilitate the LEED  certification process in a consulting role. This includes initial points list development, preparation and leading kickoff meetings or design charrettes, documenting Michaels' portion of the project, which typically includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, and managing the LEED -related activities of other stakeholders in the project to ensure successful certification.Â
Qualification Requirements: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering Strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and related thermo/fluids subjects Excellent oral, written and analytical skills Must be authorized to work in the United States
Other Desired Credentials: Licensed Professional Engineer LEED Â Accredited Professional Project Management Experience
Our excellence and reputation in the market has resulted in doubling our workload in two years to 18 full-time energy engineers. During this period, we have provided services in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and California and we are poised to expand into Pacific Northwest states.Â
Our home office will be moving to downtown La Crosse, into a renovated 100-year-old four-story department store building. The facility features beautiful original maple flooring, twelve-foot ceilings, huge windows providing copious daylight and views to outdoors from any seated workstation, state of the art HVAC system with status viewing and data tracking for all employees to serve as an on-site laboratory of learning.Â
We offers a competitive salary, 401K, health, life and dental plans, vacation, corporate fitness program, education reimbursement program, and more.
Send resumes to Kori Hazlett at khazlett@sparqpoint.com .
