Design Services Engineer

GENERAL The Design Services Manager, as a member of the Technical Group, is the primary contact for all engineering design issues relating to Crane Manufacturing, Engineering Services and International Services business areas. The Design Services Manager supervises all personnel with direct responsibility for design engineering and drafting. It is mandatory for the incumbent to be familiar with the requirements of the Quality Management System and to take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Company’s Quality Programme. The adherence to the Company’s Quality Procedures and allied systems is required to maintain quality standards to API Q1. The incumbent must be fully conversant with the requirements of the Company’s Safety Policy and take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Safety Management System, ensuring that the health and safety arrangements are being effectively applied by all subordinates. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that subordinates are helped to perform their jobs effectively and have the learning opportunities through which their abilities and potential can be developed. The incumbent must adopt a cooperative attitude towards being assigned alternative or additional duties to those for which they are primarily employed. REQUIRED SKILLS: 1. Engineering Degree, Qualified in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering 2. Professional Engineer (PE) Certified 3. Minimum of five years experience in structural, civil or mechanical design projects in offshore industry (or similar) 4. Solid background in engineering analysis and design methods 5. Solid background in computational methods (finite element analysis) 6. Knowledge of relevant engineering standards (API, AISC, ASTM, AWS, SAE) 7. Strong leadership skills 8. Excellent communication skills – written and verbal 9. Good computed skills 10. Ability to perform tasks independently, with minimum supervision, as well as within a team environment 11. Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work across multiple projects.
