Communications Specialist

This position supports the company’s growth initiatives by developing consistent and effective processes by which all employees (contract and internal) remain informed, motivated and engaged.  Primarily responsible for the preparation of company publications, including planning and scheduling, graphics design, composing and/or editing of articles, confirming artwork, verifying facts and coordination of printing and distribution.  This position will serve as subject matter expert regarding the design, functionality and on-going content management for the company’s intranet site.  Assists as needed in the creation of communication and marketing materials that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products/services. Works with senior management to coordinate the agenda and messaging for the company’s quarterly “All Hands Callsâ€�.  Provide active support, and guidance on a variety of projects intended to present news and ideas, add to the knowledge or perspective of our employees, and to support the needs of our employees. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES - Utilize desktop publishing and graphic design skills to coordinate, write, design, and edit all company publications (i.e. Loop, ASI Today, contractor newsletters, etc.)- Update, write, edit, and manage content for intranet web site.- Collaborate on company-wide communication activities (i.e. SSLC, project, and change communications) and assist with planning and messaging.  - Utilize graphical talents and creativity in the development of video and on-line products for training, new hire orientation, and company events.- Assist the Business Development function in the design and management of all marketing materials and promotional items- Provide guidance to management on the continued development of the communications function and its potential impact on the success of the company.- Assist with projects and initiatives on an as needed basis.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Technical· Ability to update contend and design proprietary intranet tool based on HTML· Demonstrated competence with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acobat· Demonstrated competence with Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, MS Publishing)· Desired experience with Captivate, DreamWeaver and Flash.  · Excellent writing skills – commanding a diversity of styles. Competency Based· Creative – can quickly convert concepts/ needs to solutions· Hands on – willing to do the work as opposed to contracting out· Self-starter- sets the agenda for the function with significant discretion· Highly organized – one person, highly visible function – time sensitive· Process oriented – can adhere to production and delivery schedules.· Independent judgment – ability to make decisions that promote the deliverables of the function· Detail oriented – avoids missing seemingly small points that are important to the message, project or individual. EDUCATION:  Bachelors Degree  EXPERIENCE:  Previous Communications/Marketing experience preferred"Apex Systems, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages minorities and females to apply."
