Chief Credit Officer
Our client is a very well-capitalized, outstandingly sound $3 billion commercial bank that has been bucking the trend with year-to-year earnings growth! They're seeking a banking professional with stellar commercial banking credit skills who can help take the bank's loan portfolios to new levels of quality and profitability. This banker will have at least 15 years of banking credit administration with several years of experience approving large and complex loans for regional or money center banks, as well as demonstrated leadership skills managing credit staff. Out-of-market candidates are encouraged to apply as relocation services will be offered. Duties:Responsible for managing all of the credit/underwriting functions. · Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the underwriting and approval process as an objective resource in determining credit worthiness and credit quality. · Participates in the credit approval process as called for based on loan authorities (or as needed) and facilitates any further approvals that may be needed on a transaction. · Participates with other Credit Officers to assist the Loan Officers in identifying critical issues, establishing loan structures and conditions early in the negotiation and underwriting process. · Participates in client calls as requested or as needed and to routinely visit the various markets the bank does business in. · Keeps apprised Risk Management of any changes in underwriting approach, specific products or market issues that may impact the overall risk factors of the portfolio. · Responsible for maintaining the loan authorities and obtaining the necessary approvals for changes/additions. · Keep current and maintain the loan policy and underwriting guidelines for all loan types. · Determines the risk tolerance status for the various loan types and keeps the lending and credit staffs informed of any changes that might impact their marketing and loan negotiations. · Participates with the senior management of the lending division in setting business strategy, target markets and production levels. Requirements:More than fifteen years of bank commercial loan credit experience with credit approval responsibilities. Must have had management experience. Additionally, previous experience as a lender is preferred. Exposure to multiple lending business lines is required with experience at handling more complex transactions. Good interpersonal skills are required to deal with individuals with various skill sets, loan officers, credit staff, customers and auditors.Please apply only if this job description matches your background and skill set.
