Billing Representative

This position is a 35-hour per week position from 9 to 5 unless otherwise indicated and is eligible for overtime. The Satellite Representative reports to the Department Manager/Department of Medicine.RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Collecting charge tickets/encounter forms daily including screening them for accuracy and completeness. 2. Registering new patients on IDX system including retrieving patient information from Hospital network, entering patient demographic information, and verifying and entering insurance information. Update accounts to ensure proper billing. 3. Troubleshooting and identifying reimbursement and coding problems. 4. Verifying schedules, obtaining referral and authorizations and attend to walk in patients. 5. Informing and instructing physicians, patient and other staff on Billing policies and procedures when appropriate. Acting as a liaison between office and the physician when necessary in order to improve communication and office efficiency. 6. Collecting time of service and other cash/check/credit card payments from patients, issuing appropriate receipt, maintaining a payment log and forwarding payments and copies of log to the appropriate individual in the Physician's Billing Office for deposits and payment posting. 7. Ensure service excellence by becoming thoroughly familiar with the ?Seven Principles of Behavior? and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities. 8. Inpatient billing ticket review prior to submission, retrieving inpatient notes for compliance review upon request, utilizing the ontrac system. 9. Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, Billing compliance and safety guidelines. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Experience: Knowledge of IDX billing and scheduling systems preferred. Knowledge of Medical terminology and 2-3 years of related experience Must have at least one year experience in a medical billing office, hospital or doctor's office setting. Minimum six months experience with electronic billing systems and following up on accounts with third party payers is essential.
