Squash pro / Assistant to the Athletic Director
The Los Angeles Athletic Club, (www.laac.com) located in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a full-time Squash Pro/Athletic Department Assistant to replace its retiring Squash Professional, Bob Hanscom.
Our Club is a full service facility. We offer squash, handball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, aerobics classes, yoga, pilates, kickboxing, weightlifting equipment, fitness center and more. We also have 4 restaurants, 72 hotel rooms and banquet facilities. The Club’s squash program has a strong reputation for high quality coaching and junior development. We have more than 130 squash playing members and expect to reach 200 members in the next two years. We want to share a vision of growing our program and give the new pro the freedom to make it happen.
The successful candidate must demonstrate superior playing and coaching ability and be able to train a broad range of players, from elite juniors to beginners. The position requires participation in all aspects of the squash program, including teaching private and group lessons, administration of
in – house leagues, running professional tournaments, and all other traditional activities of a private club squash program. Other aspects of the position include administrative duties to include budget development and fiscal responsibility, athletic department management responsibilities and general operations and upkeep of the department. College degree preferred. Excellent communication and computer skills. 2-4 years management experience a plus. Must be flexible to the changing needs of the Club and department. Must be a teamplayer, professional appearance, problem solver, organized, ability to grow a business, and provide excellent customer service.
Compensation includes competitive salary, private lesson and clinic fees, and commission on tournament fundraising. We offer medical and dental insurance, 401(k) benefit plan, paid vacation, sick days, holiday pay, comp. parking in the Club parking garage, comp. meal, athletic privileges, and more.
