JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Training Specialist will develop and conduct training programs for employees, commercial service, or government establishment: Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as those concerned with new employee orientation, on-the-job training, safety practices, and leadership development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

§  Confers with management on training needs, changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.

§  Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods.

§ Selects or develops teaching aids, such as, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference works.

§ Develops criteria to measure the effectiveness of training workshops, seminars, and/or classes.

§ Develops and maintain on-going curriculum updates and follow-up instruction.  Performs special projects as assigned by management

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

   This position has no supervisory responsibilities

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

Demonstrated knowledge of conducting training programs for employees. Have strong organizational, interpersonal, written, presentation and facilitation skills. Be able to formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings and workshops. Capable of understanding and communicating technical content in basic terms.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  A bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or 2-5 years conducting training in

  service-based industries or related work experience.

2.  Knowledge of training programs for end users both stand-up, classroom and web­

based delivery methods.

3.  Demonstrated initiative, and creativity with the ability to effectively achieve

organizational established training goals.

4.  Ability to analyze training needs and prepare special courses or related manuals.

  5. Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Private Security Services Instructor

  6. Firearms Instructor Certification (D.C, Maryland, Virginia – any combination of the three)

  7.  CPR/First Aid Certified Instructor

 

 

Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers/employees.

Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 5% -25% of the time. 

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 25% - 49% of the time.

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write type, and use a telephone system 75% -100% of the time.

Physical Dimensions: Medium work.  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
