Project Manager Commercial Operations Description:SUMMARY: To manage the installation and service of commercial accounts in regional branches to achieve optimum technical productivity and profitability.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Identify and qualify subcontractors for special projects and/or out of service area work.* Design low-voltage systems and produce submittal packages of low-voltage systems as needed for review by the AHJ or customer.* Develop and maintain professional working relationship and communications with both internal and external customers, trade associations and licensing agencies.* Provide superior customer service at all times through quality project management, including timely response to customer inquires and prompt handling and resolution of customer problem. Ensure that all branches provide the same.* Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all technical aspects of commercial operations.* Maintain a thorough knowledge of the equipment, its capabilities and various troubleshooting techniques used in commercial technical operations.* Maintain a thorough knowledge of code requirements applicable to commercial operations in all low-voltage installation aspects.* Assist ongoing technical and safety training for all Technical Managers and Operations Managers.* Coordinate scheduling of commercial jobs with the customer, the Sales Consultant and the Technical Manager of the branch as needed. This will include all related MasterMind computer activity.* Ensure correct job hour coding and appropriate cost centers are applied on all commercial jobs.* Ensure that all commercial jobs are performed on time and under budget. If a job is not performed with in these parameters then perform an analysis as to why the job failed.* Ensure that each branch is obtaining and maintaining all state and local licenses necessary for technical operations by the branch.* Maintain a basic knowledge of sales policies, activities and requirements to respond to design solutions with the Sales Consultant in the sales process.* Provide direct, high-level technical support to the field-based Technical Managers and representatives of other departments including dealers or subcontractors to ensure that all low-voltage systems are configured, installed, and functioning according to operational specifications.* Develop and set design priorities to address current and future low-voltage based product needs.* Communicate on a frequent basis with regional Regional Trainers on branch productivity, quality, and operations performance issues as this pertains to commercial jobs. * Ensure that all branches are properly maintaining all low-voltage permanent records as well as all inspection, testing, and maintenance records.* Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Senior Manager of Commercial Operations and executive management.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. NICET Certified level III in the sub-field of Fire Alarm Systems preferred. If not NICET certified individual must obtain certification with in one year of employment.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as voltage and power consumption values, variances, proportions, percentages, discounts, interest, commissions, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in a mathematical or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PERSONAL COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to design low-voltage systems using Auto Cad and calculation software packages.
