This position will also be responsible for the planning, management, and execution of the Application Development team.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following,* Partner with all Brinks Home Security business departments to support current and future business operations through the effective and innovative use of IT applications* Work closely with other development teams and other IT groups to ensure seamless support to Brinks internal customers* Integrate with software vendor support organizations to enable Brinks to realize full utility of acquired software systems and escalate problems to the vendor and track their resolution* Partner with off-shore development team to create new application features* Evaluate upgrades of Operating Systems, Database Servers, .NET and other applications from software vendors and plan application migrations for upgrades, identify modifications that are required in upgrade and prepare appropriate testing plan* Plan and moderate regular meetings with departments to establish project priorities and plan future application releases* Oversee the definition and documentation of all system requirements associated with new application projects* Plan or assist project managers in the planning of projects including the identification of tasks, estimation of effort, and the allocation of managed resources and ensure that project tracking systems are kept current with actual progress and changes in scope* Ensure that test plans are developed and performed and secure user approval before releasing software to production* Follow change management procedures to enable smooth deployment of new or changed software and to provide recovery options should changes need to be backed out and work with operations staff to support changes released to production* Review technical reports, memoranda and instructional manuals produced as documentation of the various projects for accuracy* Provide leadership in continuous process improvement within Application Development areas of application design, development, and implementation* Work with project office in defining implementation tasks, prepare time and cost estimates, review requirements to ensure the project is adequately defined and provide technical advice and guidance to project managers* Work with QA team in identifying testing platforms and infrastructure requirements for testing new applicationsQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of five years of software development experience required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups within and outside the Company.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only very limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to translate current design patterns to a software design, set software standards, and lead business units through each phase of the system life cycle. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to contribute to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying interpersonal and collaboration skills to achieve project goals and realize value. Must be flexible and possess excellent time management, project management and strong leadership skills.
