Licensed Vocational Nurse TATC
Under general supervision, responsible for assisting in the health assessment screening of all admissions; oversee the medications for clients; maintain medication stock and medication administration records; assist in the planning and coordination of client care; implement appropriate nursing interventions; and evaluate the nursing care provided.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Although it is not possible to provide an exhaustive list of all types of duties, responsibilities and performance standards, the following are the essential job functions:
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate medical care consistent with organizational practices and standards.
2. Assists physicians by completing initial intake assessment of resident and obtain substance abuse history.
3. Provide direct care to residents as per physician's orders.
4. Supervises Medical Department; corrective actions, performance evaluations
5. Complete in-service training to meet the requirements for continued personal and professional self-development.
6. Maintain confidentiality obtained through job duties regarding employees, vendors, residents, outside agencies, etc., so that sensitive information is only given on a "need to know" basis.
7. Comply with Cornell Companies' work rules and policies as explained in the company Employee Handbook, and the Facility Policies and Procedures Manual; and respond positively to directives from managers and supervisors in a cooperative spirit to ensure conformance to standards.
8. Adhere to Cornell Companies' attendance policy; work overtime as required, to ensure adequate coverage of the program and to ensure the safety and security of the residents.
9. Comply with facility safety rules; take appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others.
10. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
* Licensed Vocational Nurse.
* One year of psych nursing experience, preferably in an residential treatment setting
KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of current treatment models and preventative health care.
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Able to make an accurate assessment of medical needs; refer to appropriate medical personnel. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make sound, quick decisions in medical emergencies.
PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS:
Intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting (25 lbs maximum); gross and fine manual dexterity; must be able to visually observe residents, hear, understand, and interpret resident behavior; communicate verbally and in writing. May participate in physical restraints with residents who may become violent. Incumbent must possess the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Residential Treatment Center setting with emphasis on adolescents. Office areas are quiet, well illuminated and air- conditioned. Outside temperatures can reach the high nineties during the summer season while winter temperatures are often at or below freezing. High winds can blow dirt and dust around.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Personal vehicle available for company use.
3. Valid driver's license and insurance for state in which facility is located.
