Zone Sales Manager

The selected candidate will report directly to the Zone Sales Director and will manage a professional sales team that includes 3 region managers (direct reports) and 24 sales representatives (indirect reports). The Zone Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales and strategy development for a five state area in the Western United States, encompassing 24 company-owned locations. Customer segments for our paint and related products include commercial, residential (new home / repaint), property management, and high performance. Other duties include: * Full profit and loss accountability. * Develop and implement strategic action plans to meet assigned sales objectives. * Prepare and submit budgets for area. * Maintain key customer relationships. * Recruit, develop, mentor, and motivate sales staff. * Ensure succession plans are in place for the zone. * Interface and work closely with store operations to ensure attainment of sales and operating plans. * Adherence to all PPG policies and procedures including safety, ethics, finance, and human resources. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * A minimum of seven (7) years of business to business sales experience with a minimum of five (5) years sales management. * Must possess high level business acumen and the ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and influence decisions at a high level. * Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability. * Ability to supervise a large number of employees over a large geography in an effective and professional manner. * Ability to analyze and utilize sales reports, and market and financial data for business planning and decision making. * Ability to analyze problems, develop sound business solutions, and complaint resolution. * Must possess or develop understanding of legal and regulatory environment. * Availability to work and travel within assigned zone 50-75% of time. Periodic evening or weekend hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events. * Four (4) year bachelor's degree. Preferred: * Previous architectural coatings or related building materials industry experience. The successful candidate may reside in Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Tucson or southern CA.
