They form the foundation of our SUPERVALU Advantage - the key to our continuing success.Title: Training Manager - Food SafetyPURPOSE Manages, coordinates, and monitors the development, deployment and evaluation of the company’s food safety & sanitation training programs to align with the company’s FSQA vision. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES •          Coordinate food safety and sanitation training efforts with Corporate and Banner FSQA Directors/managers, Corporate Merchandising, Operations and Supply Chain teams under the direction of the Director of Retail Food Safety.•          Consults with Banner FSQA teams concerning learning initiatives, programs and organizational development needs as required by the business•          Determines program and education needs through understanding of Corporate and Banner FSQA initiatives•          Prepares and manages FSQA related education project plans, including definition, scope, resources, schedule, and budgets•          Ensures timely communication is maintained regarding all project status and priorities•          Maintaining sense of urgency on project timelines, being the driver on escalating issues towards quick resolution•          Determine need for additional or renewed training, considering changes in cleaning programs or equipment, new health regulations or concerns, and repeat inspection deficiencies or lack of ability to demonstrate required knowledge•          Conduct group-training seminars in cooperation with Corporate and Banner FSQA teams•          Reviews cleaning supply product movement with Banner FSQA teams to identify trends and opportunities•          Review store sanitation evaluation reports provided by pest control and sanitation supplies vendor representatives to identify trends and opportunities•          As requested, monitor and assist stores to comply with local, state and federal food safety and health standards, including personal hygiene and hand washing, temperature control of potentially hazardous foods, cross contamination control, pest control and chemical use training•          Maintain channels of communication, encouraging store and division personnel to express new ideas, suggestions and complaints, reviewing each for appropriateness and further action•          Monitor/facilitate the deployment of completed education and program materials to the end users•          Develops strong working relationships with Banner Food Safety Directors, to ensure appropriate involvement in FSQA program development and deployment•          Stays abreast of current developments in food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance JOB REQUIREMENTS Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •          Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in public health, environmental health, food science, food microbiology or equivalent desired•          2 or more years previous experience or education in food handling, sanitation, or public health preferred. Familiarity with retail grocery operations, or restaurant operations preferred•          Must have strong project planning and execution skills•          Must have ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results•          Must work effectively in a team environment•          Team and relationship building skills required•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills and to effectively interface with personnel (at all levels) effectively•          Communicate concepts, systems, procedures, etc., in a working/learning environment clearly•          Skilled in PC and desktop application (Word Excel, PowerPoint) knowledge required•          Proficiency in publishing applications (PageMaker, Quark, PhotoShop) preferred•          Working knowledge of technical and non-technical training media           PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT •          Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment•          Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal•          Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday•          Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties•          Travel required, up to 40% initally and taper to 15 or 20% The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
