TRANSPORTATION ANALYST Job Summary   The primary purpose of the position is to provide analytical support to the Director, Dot.com Transportation. The scope of this position includes all Parcel and LTL transportation for the dot.com business.    Key Tasks and Responsibilities   1.) Analytical Support - Conduct on-going analysis of freight expenditures to determine opportunities for cost reduction, and service improvement.  Measuring, tracking and reporting the results of freight cost reduction initiatives including working with the finance organizations to map cost reduction initiatives to the financial statements.  Preparing trend and variance analysis models; and making recommendations on financial impact to the transportation organization.    2.) Carrier Management - Interface with carriers and internal and external customers to ensure that day-to-day transportation operations are supporting service and cost requirements. Provide analytical support for carrier RFP's.  Monitor KPI trends and drive improvements within the transportation network.  Manage carrier performance through day today interaction and quarterly reviews in addition to the development of carrier performance scorecards. 3.)  Process Improvement - Formulate and implement operational initiatives to improve delivery service and reduce cost.  Execute transportation analyses and studies in support of logistics plans and review existing processes and operations to drive continuous improvement.   4.) Freight Payment/Audit and Reporting -  Responsible for working with freight payables team to setup carriers with 3rd party audit company.  Utilizing 3rd party audit data base, develop standardized and ad-hoc reporting.   5.) Drop-Ship Management.  Work with drop ship business team to set-up new vendors with carriers for drop-ship.  Communicate requirements for outbound transportation with drop-ship vendors. Develop SOP's relating to drop-ship transportation.   6.) Project Management.  Provide analytical support and project management in the completion of various Logistics projects in support of the dot.com business. Critical Skills: Budget/sales Responsibility? Yes ____ No __X___; How Much? _______ Direct Reports? Yes _ ___ No __X___; How Many? _____ Specific technical training (i.e., CPA, Engineer, etc..) Other? Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in spreadsheets and databases required (Excel, Access).  Knowledge of transportation pricing and tariff methods along with contract terms and conditions.  Strong analytical and problem solving skills.  Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years logistics, transportation or supply chain experience. Strong working Knowledge of Access and Excel.  Exposure to Parcel Transportation Management Systems and 3rd party Freight Payment/ Audit companies a plus.
