SENIOR WEB DESIGNER - E-COMMERCE Position is located at our Grand Rapids, MI Headquarters. Candidates outside the Grand Rapids area, will be required to relocate.The individual selected for this position will be responsible for designing web pages that meet marketing objectives, and follow customer usability best practices, while staying within Meijer brand standards. Designer will participate in creative content planning sessions, assisting with site map and wireframe composition, create design comps, optimize graphics for the web, and arrange photography as necessary. Designer will work closely with Content Specialist, Project Manager and Developer in ensuring projects meet deadlines. Other duties include: Web site design Create web experience with customer needs in mind Create intuitive navigation and specific user paths Run usability testing, image preparation and create conceptual layouts for photography Develop strategy for new Internet graphic methods and design Ideal candidate must possess the following: Bachelor's degree or commensurate online experience, specific education in website/interact design is a plus or list continuing education workshops taken within the last 2 years Minimum 3 years experience designing multiple websites in a large corporate or agency environment. Transactional web site design a plus Application experience: Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, Indesign, flash, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office, all email clients and browsers Knowledge and experience in designing for CSS and XHTML, according to W3C standards Prerequisite skills: Must be familiar with delivery of web graphics, including palette issues, tools, bandwidth, and design considerations and limitations Proven expertise in the web design processes, including defining site objectives, understanding target audience goals and the appropriate personality and tone, driving conversions and sales Attention to detail and a solid practical understanding of web interface design, interactive design, typography, and color theory Ability to work well in a team environment on design and implementation of multiple projects Pro-active self-starter and independent thinker with ability to be creative, flexible, and thorough under daily deadlines Ability to multi-task on many projects with both high and low levels of art direction Awareness of design trends and natural talent to adapt them to web environment Ability to create original artwork and characters a plus Conceptual thinker highly creative and articulate If you have the experience described, log on to our web site at www.joinmeijer.com and apply online.
