Sr. Staff Accountant

Are you an experienced accounting/finance professional who is ready for a challenging career move? Dollar General is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant to be responsible for computing, preparing, verifying and analyzing information to result in the timely and accurate reporting of the overall company financial statements and supporting schedules and will prepare account reconciliations on a monthly basis. The top candidate will have post graduate experience with a public accounting firm or public corporation and obtained or be working towards a CPA or MBA.

  Bachelors degree in Accounting strongly preferred; CPA strongly preferred 2+ years experience in financial accounting for a CPA firm or public corporation Accounting experience in retailing a plus Thorough knowledge of consolidation accounting including sound understanding of overall accounting process, financial statement preparation, and current knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in order to ensure accurate, efficient and timely financial reporting and related processes. Ability to analyze and interpret financial information in order to determine if amounts appear reasonable or warrant further research. Solid understanding of intercompany and subsidiary accounting processes. Ability to efficiently perform duties in a time sensitive environment, in order to meet deadlines. Superior verbal and written communication skills to network with various other departments within the company, as well as external persons, regarding various issues related to the consolidated financial reporting process. Ability to be a team player and is customer service driven. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to proactively recognize issues and resolve them before they become major problems. Proficient in the use of PC spreadsheet and word processing applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc) to summarize financial data in the most efficient and accurate manner possible. Experience with database programs (i.e. Microsoft Access) is a plus. Flexibility in time commitment as required by workflow, and a willingness to work an average of 45+ hours per week, when necessary, especially in order to meet periodic reporting deadlines. Ability to act independently including, establishing priorities, recognizing and resolving issues

Compensation will consist of a competitive salary based on your experience, with bonus potential.
