This position is a senior member of a small cross-functional core team focused on providing a centre of excellence for RAC within the wider database administration team. This core team will be responsible for developing the overall operating model for management of RAC instances, engineering the infrastructure necessary to deliver on this 24x7, delivering high availability, guaranteed backup and recovery, configuration management, monitoring and tuning of the instance and integrating RAC within the existing distributed computing platform. This position will work closely with the application team and vendors to focus on database design and SQL development and tuning.Candidates must be experienced in monitoring RAC, developing and using tools to generate real time events and record and display historical performance, and the diagnosis and correction of existing or impending problems that would impact system availability: be able to drill down to and elucidate upon relationships and dependencies between the database, the operating system and the disk subsystem.Qualifications:• 8+ years of relevant Oracle 8.x, 9i and 10g database administration experience • 3+ years of RAC experience• Solid experience with UNIX and UNIX shell scripting• Experience with Linux (Redhat and SUSE)• Experience with DB2 UDB and MS SQL a plus• Oracle Streams experience is a huge plus• Experience with Oracle high availability solutions including Veritas clustering, RAC, and Advanced Replication• BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related• Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action• Genuine desire to provide superior customer service• Strong communication and leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical professionals across the enterprise• Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis with a high degree of initiative and sense of urgency• Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are essential in this role• Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives and projects• Strong understanding of ITIL service support and service delivery
