Software Quality Engineer

(Nasdaq:CSTR) is a multi-national company offering a range of 4th Wall(TM) solutions for the retailers' front of store consisting of self-service coin counting, electronic payment solutions, entertainment services and self-service DVD rental has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Software Quality Engineer.

Role & Responsibilities:
This person contributes to Coinstar's success by creating customer satisfaction by assuring that Coinstar software performs as specified and sets superior quality standards. We are looking for a talented, quality assurance engineer to contribute to a dynamic QA team in developing and executing test designs that ensure our software products meet high quality standards; 2-3 years software QA experience; experience in SQL and client-server environments required; and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Summary of key responsibilities:
• Review software specifications (requirements, architecture, functional and design) and actively participate in design meetings to assure that the product under development will meet requirements and be testable
• Create clear and complete Test Plans and Test Cases
• Execute Test Plans/Cases to assure that software products meet high quality standards and meet or exceed all stated requirements
• Apply troubleshooting expertise to track problems to their most probable cause
• Provide clear, concise instructions on how to reproduce problems that are found
• Assist in developing attainable project plans by providing accurate estimates
• Help reduce overall delivery schedules by suggesting improvements to the QA process
• Specify and help develop tools/scripts to automate the testing process
• Position Reports to:  QA Manager

Qualifications & Experience:
• High School Degree or GED
• BSCS, EE, or degree in related technical field
• Basic – Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
• Solid knowledge of SQL including understanding data structures, creating/evaluating advanced queries and stored procedures, creating and manipulating test data
• Experience testing .NET web services
• 3+ years proven success designing and implementing test specifications of software projects of significant size and complexity
• 3+ years proven ability to work effectively within a team
• 3+ years proven ability to accurately estimate quality assurance work based on written requirements
• Basic knowledge of scripting (for example: batch scripting, C# or XML, etc) a plus
• Self-directed and result-oriented
• Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Detail oriented without losing sight of overall goals
• Ability to quickly change gears when issues come up, to work within a process with shorter cycle times and still follow established processes
