Senior Programmer Analyst

Job Overview: 

The Senior Programmer Analyst is the senior developer that produces applications and processes that will enhance and support business requirements. The Senior Programmer Analyst works with developers and business users to solve new business challenges.  The Senior Programmer Analyst aids in the guidance and mentoring of junior technical staff members. 

 

Responsibilities:

· Investigates new technologies and resources for use by the business.

· Works with management and development staff to determine technical standards.

· Works with business users, management and developers to design and develop solutions to business problems and provide new functionality and capabilities to satisfy business requests.

· Documents new applications as needed to deploy application to the user community.

· Unit tests new applications prior to Quality Assurance testing.

· Identifies and minimize risks to implementing new applications.

· Provides Technical Leadership to other developers.

· Utilizes project management tools to update end users and management on progress.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field.

· 5+ years related experience and/or training.

§ 5+ years application development experience in Java.

§ 3+ years experience in web application development, retail ecommerce preferred.

§ Experience working with SQL and relational databases.

§ Experience with web services and service oriented architectures (SOA).

· Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Self-motivated and highly productive in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong understanding of software application lifecycle in a team environment.

· Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

· Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with management, business users, and developers.

· Working knowledge of object oriented programming and common design patterns.

· Working knowledge of CVS, Aegis, Subversion or other revision control systems.

· Experience with Eclipse, JDBC and Tomcat (or other Servlet/Application servers).

· Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and AJAX technologies.

· Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a project team.

· Understanding of test-driven development.

· Understanding of agile development principals and methodologies.

· Capable of providing direction to less experienced programmers.

· Ability to represent the company in a professional and positive manner and promote company values.
