We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Merchandise Manager to join our Sahalie brand’s Merchandising department in our Hillsboro, OR office. This position is responsible for general merchandising, product development, production selection, product sourcing, pricing, sales and gross margin for Brand. Direct the efforts of a staff of merchandising and buying professionals.

 

 

Essential Functions:

· Overall responsibility for creating sales and profit as well as providing direction and vision for the Brand. 

· Develops merchandise plan, budgets, forecasts, business plans and strategies.

· Coordinates and communicates merchandise presentation ideas to Creative staff.

· Works closely with Creative staff to ensure accurate and most advantageous catalog representation; develops item presentation in catalog(s), including layout, text, photos and art.

· Analyzes past product performance to determine or predict future success.  Conducts research and business analysis regarding market/consumer trends, demographics, merchandise sales levels, competitor performance, etc.

· Manages design & sources finished goods or materials for product development.  Researches and selects merchandise for in-store and/or catalog sales.

· Selects products from various vendors.  Purchases samples for review, testing and/or consideration for future purchases and tracks/logs these purchases.

· Travels to factories, trade shows and markets. Visits vendor facilities to meet vendors and negotiate merchandise purchases, pricing and terms as needed.

· Provides overall management and direction to assigned buying and support staff.

· Recommends hires, transfers, terminations, salary adjustments, performance standards and reviews.  Approves employee daily time records, work assignments, vacations, etc.  Manages employee relations and training.

· Exhibits professional conduct in all business relationships, actions and communications.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

· Requires a minimum of 8 years buying experience in the retail/mail order industry.

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, merchandising or related field.

· Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including excellent negotiation skills.

· Ability to conduct complex statistical analyses, problem solve, make complex decisions and work effectively under strict time constraints.

· Domestic and overseas travel may be required.
