Senior Database Analyst

JOB SUMMARY
The senior database analyst is part of a team that is responsible for the analysis, design, building, testing, and implementation of MBE’s production enterprise data warehouse. The individual also provides analysis and reporting services and architectural guidance for database projects. The primary focus of this position will be to maintain the production data warehouse and create reports for business analysis. The secondary focus will be production database administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Maintain, design, and build data warehouse for production enterprise databases.
§ Design and develop reports for the data warehouse using MS reporting services. Explore and utilize data mining and data modeling functionalities of MS Analysis Service.
§ Create various pre-calculated data warehouse objects like the “calculated members” and “ranks,” etc.
§ Work closely with business departments to provide innovative ideas for new reports and data modeling to assist business decision making.
§ Provide guidance, design, planning, and execution for Analysis Services and Reporting Services upgrade from 2000 to 2005/2008.
§ Design and implement reporting user interface “Performance Points” of Sharepoint 2007 integration with Reporting Services 2005.
§ Review, analyze, and provide guidance for work products developed by software development group, including products developed by outside vendors.
§ Manage database changes using best practices in configuration management.
§ Consult with the software development staff on system upgrades, or patches, to coordinate a schedule for applying the required changes.
§ Configure, administer, and maintain the MBE SQL servers.
§ Manage data backup process and ensure ongoing data integrity.
§ Monitor the corporate databases to ensure the corporate systems are available to the entire franchise community.
§ Provide visibility to the performance of the corporate databases.
§ Act upon production alerts, anomalies, and changes.
§ Work with network engineers to coordinate network problem resolution.
§ Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement activities.
REQUIREMENTS
§ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
§ Strong experience in MS data warehouse field using OLAP/Analysis Service.
§ 2-5 years experience in database administration and reporting services.
§ Strong understanding and working knowledge of SQL Server 2005, 2000 and 7.0.
§ Demonstrated knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.
