AMERICAN GIRL PLACE, located in Chicago near the Magnificent Mile, in New York near Rockefeller Center and in Los Angeles in The Grove shopping center, is the award-winning retail and entertainment site created by American Girl,a wholly owned subsidiary of Mattel, Inc, selling books, dolls, clothing and other products for girls age 3-12. To provide prompt, efficient and exceptional service to customers in order to ensure an excellent experience at AG Boutique and Bistro. This would include providing sales assistance and sharing product knowledge, the prompt and accurate processing of all transactions, answering questions and directing customers, helping to resolve customer problems, and communicating merchandise and service needs to management on a timely basis. All of these tasks must be consistently performed in a friendly manner and with a smile. Treats customer as No. 1 priority. Associate smiles and creates a positive, friendly and professional atmosphere. Approach, acknowledge, and assist all customers within 30 seconds. Offers appropriate suggestions to customers to create multiple sales. Initiate movement and assistance throughout entire department. Is knowledgeable and shares information of all store events, promotions, and activities. Demonstrates the principles of MAGIC and FISH. Creates a positive shopping experience. Assists in the smooth operation of the department. Demonstrates the ability to support cashier staff. Handles multiple customers effectively. Adapts quickly to the pace of the business. Resolves customer problems. Turns returns into exchanges. Ensures that shopping environment is safe for internal and external customers. Thanks the customer for shopping. Communicates with client by phone and written correspondence. Captures client information. Processes all transactions promptly and efficiently. Uses professional telephone skills. Actively supports the mission of the company, which is 'To Celebrate Girls.'Has read all character meet books and other AG titles to strengthen product knowledge. Continues to develop product knowledge. Attends product trainings and storewide meetings as scheduled. Has ability to answer customer questions related to all areas of the store. Shares product knowledge with customers and co-workers. Is aware of new product and services throughout the store. Supports new product launches by proactively contacting clients for sales. Can speak to flagship, current catalog, Internet and in-store promotions..Complies with POS policies and procedures as stated in the POS Manual. POS errors are kept to a minimum as outlined in the POS Error Procedure. Is responsible for opening and closing registers and processing customer transactions. Captures all ZIP codes and phone numbers as required by POS and monitors department cashier team effort. Understands and adheres to company, store, and department policies/procedures, including but not limited to opening and closing procedures. Complies with all components of the Employee Handbook including Availability Standards and Staff Scheduling requirements. Follows Dress Code presenting a professional image at all times. Follows AG Boutique and Bistro Dependability policy, which includes but is not limited to: Arriving to work on time and using sick time appropriately, and notifying the Loss Prevention department and direct supervisor of absences or tardiness in the appropriate amount of time. Takes responsibility to meet deadlines for submitting any forms or documents such as payroll forms and request off forms. Consistently maintains a neat and orderly cash wrap area ensuring that supplies are stocked at all times. Works to create friendly, cooperative relationships. Communicates respectfully. Demonstrates flexibility in managing change. Consistently works to develop new knowledge, skills and abilities. Works cooperatively with others to accomplish team and company goals. Identifies and implements practical solutions to day-to-day problems. Responds to internal and external customers in a courteous, helpful and timely manner. Reviews communication binder and pertinent reports in order to communicate accurate information to internal and external customers. Participates in and supports departmental initiatives and activities. Communicates stock needs to merchandise handlers or management to better serve the customer. Maintains stock assignment. Continues to roam and maintain departmental zone coverage ensuring that approachability to the customer. Adheres and understands the store merchandise hold policy and checks on client holds daily to ensure orders have appropriate follow through. The associate must possess a strong service attitude, be warm and friendly to all customers and fellow personnel and most importantly enjoy children. They should have the ability to work with a broad & diverse work force and customer base with a strong affinity toward service & teamwork. High energy, organizational skills, flexibility, positive attitude are required. Good verbal and communications skills required.High School Diploma preferred.Minimum of 6 months work experience in sales in retail or service industry.Sales or service experience required.Previous experience working with children a plus.
