SMS ENGINEERINFORMATION TECHNOLOGYWalnut Creek, CAThe Information Technology Department located in Walnut Creek, CA has a position open for a SR SMS Engineer. Qualifications: • 7+ years professional experience as a systems engineer responsible for Microsoft Windows Desktop platforms.• 3+ years professional experience as a systems engineer and/or developer responsible for design and implementation of large scale enterprises solutions. Experience in the technology lifecycle management, configuration, optimization, and tuning.• 3+ years experience with .MSI or Windows Installer technology• 3+ years experience with AdminStudio. Desired experience with AdminStudio Workflow Manager.• Senior level experience creating transform files and packaging applications in .MSI format.• Senior level Microsoft SMS 2003 architectural and engineering experience. Desired experience with Microsoft SCCM.• Senior level experience developing tools relating to Java, .NET, C#, C++, Visual Basic, or ASP.NET and XML, HTML, JavaScript.• Senior level experience packaging and automated software systems management in large enterprise environments.• Senior level scripting experience with VBScript and JavaScript. Also desired experience with Perl and TCL.• Proven experience with multiple scripting languages including VBScript, WMI, REXX, Perl, JavaScript, etc.• Proven experience with Windows workstation and server system platforms including (NT workstation, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Server 2000, Server 2003 and Vista). Desired experience with UnixLinux, and AIX.• Proven experience of Active Directory and Group Policy management.• Proven experience with SQL Server 2005. Desired experience with DB2 and Oracle.• Experience with OS Virtual technologies such as VMWare and Microsoft Virtual ServerDesktop.• Experience with Application Virtualization technology.• Experience with Web platforms such as IIS and Apache.• Preferred experience with other software systems management platforms such as, but not limited to HP Radia or HP Client Automation.• Ability and desire to undertake a technical mentoring role within a department.• Ability to work well in fast paced, team oriented environment.• Enthusiasm and commitment to achieving Operational Excellence in support of Service Levels.• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.• Strong Documentation skills• BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or relatedKey Responsibilities:• Enterprise level infrastructure design and engineering for products within the Desktop Engineering realm. Examples include: SMSSCCM, Radia, Installshield, Thinstall, Wavelink, Connected Backup, Symantec Client Security, Microsoft Office, Credant (Desktop Encyption).• Define, document, and maintain standards for client infrastructure and operating systems• Drive upgrades to client infrastructure to maintain currency and continuously enhance functionality in line with business goals and objectives• Provide software packaging services as part of client infrastructure activities as required• Perform product rationalization to reduce cost and complexity of the environment• Stay abreast of ongoing support issues related to client infrastructure and ensure that the infrastructure support organization establishes root cause• Provide last level support as needed• Provide bench strength to Portfolio Systems Engineering Team (Desktop Engineering)• Apply depth of technical knowledge and exceptional practical experiences of Windows engineering disciplines and practices• Work with project teams or clients to gather business requirements for software packaging or software management tools requests• Work with requestor to provide an environment for user acceptance testing• Provide leadership in defining application packaging standards and guidelines• Work closely within the Client Engineering organization to continually improve efficiencies and reduce adverse customer impact
