We're building dominant and compelling assortments in hardware, bath, lighting, textiles and furniture. Responsibilities and Duties: Prepare and process vendor invoices for payment by reviewing validity of invoices, accuracy of account coding and ensuring applicable authorization approvals are provided. Validate receipt of goods, ensure proper prices have been invoiced in accordance with the purchase order, and conduct match process to identify any discrepancies. Process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company and IRS guidelines. Provide timely updates to vendors and internal customers regarding invoice status and proactively work to clarify/resolve any invoice issues. Prepare wire transfers and/or weekly check issuance ensuring the accuracy of all payment elements and logs are updated. Complete month-end journal entries for accruals and vendor account reconciliations. Assist in the preparation and distribution of 1099s. Participate in testing and development of enhanced internal controls and application upgrades. Assist in the preparation, coordination and tracking of archived invoices with external service provider. Provide training to new AP team members and contribute to the development of the AP training manual. Special projects as assigned. Specific Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrate experience with general ledger account including month end closing processes and general knowledge of accounting principles. Proficiency with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and be effective in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Must be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines. Takes initiative for process improvement. Self-starter with ability to problem-solve and motivate others. 3-5 Years of related work experience preferably in Accounts Payable. Knowledge of Lawson Financials and MS Office. Experience interpreting vendor invoices, statements, and other requests for payment. Knowledge of purchase orders and related accounts payable documentation.
