Performance Test Engineer - Software Engineering

Position:  Performance Test Engineer

Group:Software Engineering

 

Primary responsibility includes performance testing and certification of web and Citrix applications. This includes creating performance scripts, executing load tests.  As the performance lab expands, responsibilities will also include formulation of plans to expand performance practices and environment, development of test strategies and processes, standards, guidelines and best practices in alignment with PMO / QA organization.

 Essential Job Functions:

Ø  Plan, Create, maintain, run performance scripts and scenarios for internal and external applications.

Ø  Analyze test results, provide reporting and recommendations for code and hardware configuration improvements.

Ø  Work closely with development teams to build performance requirements upfront. 

Ø  Work with operations teams to troubleshoot production performance issues, identify root cause, and transfer ownership of issues to appropriate owners.

Ø  Assist development teams with custom code instrumentation using Wily Introscope.

Ø  Identify opportunities for performance improvement in existing Kroger web applications.

Ø  Maintain hardware and software in the Web Certification Lab.

 Job Requirements:

 

Ø  Is experienced in the specific discipline of Performance Engineering as a discreet subset of software testing.

Ø  Minimum 2 years experience with test planning, test development, web application test execution.

Ø  Minimum 2 years experience with performance testing, and web performance testing tools.

Ø  Hands on experience with HP-Mercury LoadRunner, including VUGen, controller and analysis modules, Sitescope.

Ø  Familiar with AIX, UNIX, Windows platforms.

Ø  Familiar with CA-WIly Introscope.

Ø  Basic understanding of how Java and .NET Web applications work, understanding of C programming fundamentals.

Ø  Proficient in SQL and database concepts.

Ø  Proven effectiveness in working across teams/disciplines.

Ø  Experienced in automation / API testing.

Ø  Ability to stage data and configure test environments.

Ø  Comfortable working with tight deadlines.

Ø  Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Ø  Good interpersonal skills.

Ø  Highly motivated.

Ø  Previous experience in web development is a plus.

Ø  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ø  Bachelor degree in business administration, MIS, IS is required
