Outdoor Adventure Department Manager

God's Country Outfitters is an independently owned outdoor specialty store.  GCO offers a full-line of Backpacking, Camping, Kayaking, Canoeing, Hunting, and Fishing gear and apparel.  The store is located in the Yadkin Pee Dee River Valley between the Uwharrie National Forest, Morrow Mountain State Park, three different rivers, and five beautiful lakes.  The area is truly an outdoor playground.GCO is adding a sales management position to the team.  The Outdoor Adventure Department Manager position will direct retail operations and supervise the department managers.  The position will offer oversight in three general administrative areas: Inventory Control, Merchandising, and Sales.  The job duties are as follows:Inventory Control: Direct weekly departmental "spot check" inventories. Evaluate seasonal close-out strategies and increase seasonal sell through. Evaluate daily departmental sales reports and create corresponding action items. Monitor departmental reorders. Evaluate category sales performance (turnover, sales per square foot, etc.)

 Merchandising: Build attractive merchandise displays. Use creativity in merchandising to increase add-on sales Insure deparment is asthetically pleasing and intuitive to navigate.

 

Sales Increase departmental sales.  Provide the highest level of product knowledge and expertise Offer the most impressive level of customer service possible.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong sales and communication skills as well as adequate organizational abilities.  They will have at least some experience in retail operations.  The strongest consideration will be given to candidates with extensive experience in kayaking, canoeing, and/or backpacking activities.
