Responsible for the financial performance within assigned region. This individual will perform limited load planning but is responsible for achieving said financial and all operating metrics by making critical day to day decisions. Achieve established annual service and cost objectives.QualificationsThe Operations Manager - Transportation will be responsible for:- Approximately $40 Million in Transportation expense for the assigned region. Each individual while having budget responsibilities must achieve that budget by out of the box thinking as well any initiatives to reduce overall transportation costs. - Daily decision-making duties. The associate will have complete authority to change routings (the way product is moved). The changes made must meet all required on time arrival metrics while still meeting cost metrics. The associate must understand all transportation levers associated with changes. These decisions have a direct correlation to weekly/monthly expenditures. Each associate has a budgetary commitment to meet goals set for the week/month/year. - Provide work direction and supervision to nonexempt associates. Each individual will be responsible for at least 2 subordinates who are reporting directly to this individual. Each associate will have weekly/monthly metrics/service reporting that the associate will have to be accountable for. - Oversees scheduling, booking, monitoring and tracking inbound shipments within assigned region in order to achieve on time service goals. - Achieve financial goals of the region through process improvements and projects like vendor compliance (chargebacks occurring from negligence of our vendors not following the routing guide or the Vendor Information Manual (VIM)) and cube utilization (loading to maximum capacity) of trailers. This individual will be held accountable to implement and change processes to achieve goals and objectives. The associate as stated before must use out of the box thinking to achieve this. The associate does not have a daily list of to do's to get this accomplished but must change/develop new ways to meet all service and financial goals. - Develop and document processes and procedures to ensure standardized operational functions while improving cost effectiveness and performance efficiencies. - Represent Transportation for Full Line initiatives taking place at service providers, distribution centers, and vendor locations.- Fill in for as well as speak to vendor/business partners for the Inbound Operations Manager as needed.- Provide substantiated input and documentation for performance evaluation of team members.- On call after hours to resolve business problems for on-time delivery of product.- Work without supervision, take initiative and follow through. - Good communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.- Good organizational and analytical skills.- Solid understanding of logistics, transportation and the key cost drivers within Full Line Stores Transportation.- Customer Orientation: ability to implement the best solution for all customers.- Problem Solving & Decision Making: must be able to analyze and make fact based decisions that enhance improved profits.- Initiative/Sense of Urgency: take immediate action and lead in supporting others.
