PetSmart is an Equal Opportunity EmployerWith many positions offering relocation packages, learn more about Life in PhoenixJob Responsibilities: Job Description - Manager of Inventory Control Ensures the integrity of the company's financial and perpetual inventory through the facilitation of physical inventories, cycle counts, and analytical exception reporting as well as reconciliation of inventory related reserves. Job Duties •Supervises a staff of associates including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. •Prepares annual budgets, on going forecasts, and variance analysis related to Inventory Overhead Capitalization, shrink, item removals, service fees, and departmental expenditures. •Manages the other cost of goods portion of the profit and loss statement through budgeting, account analysis, forecasting, variance analysis, and the identification/reversal of negative trends. •Monitors and reconciles key inventory related reserves for lower of or market and obsolescence, for inventory shrinkage, and for uniform capitalization of inventory related costs. •Performs lead role in analyzing inventory related financial information to provide timely, accurate, actionable information to the business helping to identify areas of concern and negative trends with particular focus on shrinkage, item removals, and obsolescence. Completes ad hoc inventory related projects and analysis for upper management as necessary. •Meets and communicates regularly with senior management to discuss inventory related topics and reconcile areas of opportunity including close communications with the Merchandising department to aid in margin stabilization through management of other cost of goods and the Store Operations department to aid in the operational review of shrink related opportunities. •Maintains relationships with third party inventory service providers including contract review and negotiations. •Facilitates the department's month end close responsibilities, including review of all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports. •Provides quarterly support for external reporting including working closely with the company's external public auditors. •Maintains all Sarbanes-Oxley documentation related to the Inventory Cycle. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements •Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; three to five years supervisory experience; and six to ten years related experience in Accounting and/or Inventory Control. •Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required •Expertise in Excel and proficiency in Access as well as other Microsoft Office Applications required •Proficiency in automated accounting system required, SAP experience preferred •Experience with Date Warehouse reporting preferred •High confidentiality and professionalism required •Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required Submit Your Resume Online NowPetSmart, INC. is an equal opportunity employer.
