Inventory Accountant

The primary purposes of this position are to assist with month- and year-end close activities and to perform special analyses and projects related to store inventory. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: - Perform weekly and monthly inventory accounting and control procedures, including reconciling various accounts, making journal entries, performing and reviewing account analyses, and performing any other procedures necessary to record inventory balances and gross margin in accordance with the appropriate accounting standards. - Identify and implement procedures to improve the integrity and timeliness of inventory and gross margin accounting. - Update weekly forecast and gross margin reports for review by senior management. - Comply with and improve upon internal controls within each inventory cycle. - Assist with the development of emerging procedures and controls in the department. - Identify issues within the department and resolve them by informing the appropriate level of management. - Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as requested by the Director, Store Inventory Accounting. - Assist with internal control remediation. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or Business, plus two (2) years' of accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
