We currently have the following opportunity available at our Merrimack Corporate Headquarters, 45 minutes from Boston:

 IT Systems Engineer

This position is responsible for managing IT infrastructure projects as well as performing hands-on support and maintenance of Windows servers and infrastructure network equipment.  Responsible for problem determination, problem resolution and follow-up, ensuring the day-to day viability of the network services provided to the company.

Responsibilities include:  

Ø  IT Projects – Manage and complete various IT projects as assigned by the Manager of IT Engineering covering areas of expansion of environment as well as supporting new initiatives and compliance regulation.

 

Ø  Network and Server Hardware and Software Support Maintenance and ongoing monitoring of network performance ensuring that connectivity, efficiency and availability are maintained at optimal levels.

 

Ø  Establishment, maintenance and ongoing monitoring of network processes.

Ø  Act as Primary point of Contact for Router configuration and troubleshooting.

Ø  Setup, installation, and support of network servers and network hardware including switches, routers, firewall, and remote access hardware.

Ø  Provide support to network design projects, ensuring seamless future technology integration into the Brookstone systems environment.

 

Escalation of Help Desk and Operations issues:  Assist corporate help desk and Operations center and provide first and second level problem determination. Diagnose and prioritize hardware and software problems of all types. 

 

Qualifications include:

Essential: 

Ø  Support users and network services in Windows Server Systems (NT4, 2000, 2003) and Desktop systems (Windows XP).

Ø  Thorough understanding of infrastructure services such as multiple Active Directory domains, DHCP, WINS, DNS, SMTP, and IIS.

Ø  5+ years enterprise computer software and hardware support experience.

Ø  5+ years enterprise network (including firewalls).

Ø  Ability to relate technical concepts to non-technical personnel.

Ø  Bachelors degree in computer science or business, or equivalent experience.

Ø  Capable of logical analysis for problem determination.

Ø  Self motivated.

Ø  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ø  Willing to be on-call to provide off-hour coverage.

Ø  Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.

Ø  Discipline to meet time constraints and deadlines

Desired:

Ø  Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification. 

Ø  Experience with the following technologies:

  Lotus Domino

  Juniper Firewalls and SSL VPNs

  Microsoft ISA server

  Cisco routers

  HP Procurve

  Oracle 10g

  MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005

  CA Arcserve

  Mac OS X

Ø  Unix administration
