DIRECTOR OF NETWORK SERVICES
The Director of Network Services is responsible for understanding information technology needs and managing the day-to-day operations of the Network Operations department to support corporate IT needs and production applications and related infrastructure. S/he is responsible for directing and managing the Network Operations staff to ensure that networks, applications and data are available, performing to expected standards, secure and protected. S/he manages Network Operations department staff, operations, projects, financial/budget matters, assets, procurement, and vendor relationships to provide first-class information technology support with consistency in delivery and cost with minimal variability.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
□ Ensures that network infrastructure is properly designed, configured and implemented in order to meet both internal and client requirements (both functional and service-level). Includes: meeting project/application/workflow SLA¹s, corporate disaster-recovery/business continuity capabilities, logging and auditing requirements.
□ Responsible for the monitoring of corporate applications, workflows and systems, both internal and client-facing, as well as the response to and resolution of issues, based on project/platform requirements.
□ Enforces the information security requirements and policies of the company.
□ Develops, oversees and maintains internal network Helpdesk capabilities in order to respond to enquiries from staff to help them resolve any hardware or software problems.
□ Maintains all relevant logs and records.
□ Performs or oversees routine maintenance tasks to ensure network and system health and performance.
□ Performs or oversees information systems administration tasks related to the systems utilized for the company¹s operations.
□ Maintains relationships with suppliers and other subcontractors who may be required to assist in the resolution of technical issues or to provide various products or services.
□ Arranges for 3rd party technical support where problems cannot be resolved in-house.
□ Coordinates with internal and external resources on IT projects.
□ Researches and recommends suitable software and hardware systems where these might improve performance, improve efficiency or meet a specific need.
□ Evaluates the job performance of Network/IS Team staff and makes decisions on work assignments and other team matters based on own assessment.
□ Overall responsibility for supervising the Network/IS Team staff, including assigning and evaluating work/tasks and handling personnel matters in conjunction with HR direction.
□ Key person in the Network/IS Team responsible for assisting Network/IS Team; escalating issues when appropriate.
□ Ensures quality of the work produced by the department as a whole.
□ Adapt to new technologies, work under tight deadlines and ensure project accomplishment.
Technical Requirements:
□ OS/Platform knowledge: Mac OS X (desktop and server); Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP Professional, Unix, Linux.
□ Ethernet and Wireless Networking.
□ Cisco network equipment: switches, routers, etc. (CCIE)
□ Cisco Call Manager VOIP phone system
□ Backup systems and methodologies
□ Redundancy/Load Balancing/Failover/High Availability methodology
□ Network Engineering; IT Architecture Design and Implementation
□ VMWare ESX Servers
□ EMC Clarion SANS & related EMC software
□ VPN technologies
□ Hardware Load Balancing
□ Web/Application server setup and administration (IIS, Apache, etc.) a plus
□ MS SQL database maintenance/administration a plus
□ MS Exchange and Active Directory administration a plus
□ Develop & document technology standards across all platforms & disciplines stated above
□ Capacity planning for all platforms and disciplines stated above
□ Closely and effectively manage operational and project budgets
Demonstrable/verifiable knowledge in the following disciplines as it relates to the platforms & disciplines stated aboveRouting: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, syslogSwitching Multicast/IGMP, Trunking,Server clustering as it relates to Cisco, VlanSecurity: Firewall, VPN, PIX/ASA, Proxy Server, Host Based / Network Based IDS/IPSSAN_Networking: Virtual SAN's, SAN architectureWireless NetworkingCall Manager v6.0: IPCC Enterprise or IPCC (enhanced) Express, Call Center Technologies,MGCP H.323 GatewaysLinuxCisco Secure ACS -TACACS+
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
□ Any certifications in any of the above technical disciplines or experience in the retail industry is a plus, but not required.
□ Experience with moving small-to-medium-sized data centers and managing out-tasked and managed services is a strong advantage.
□ 10+ years experience administering networks in a large-scale, multi-platform information technology environment in a highly available production environment.
□ 6+years experience managing multiple information technology staff members
Knowledge/Skills:
□ Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and customers.
□ Strong troubleshooting methodology and analytical skills
□ Research and learn new software and adapt to changes in technology
□ Prioritize, organize and schedule work assignments and projects.
□ Ability to manage, prioritize and track many concurrent projects.
