Director of Human Resources - Distribution Centers

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources - Distribution Centers leads the Human Resources function for a network of 7 non-union Distribution Centers nationwide and is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources strategies that align with and positively impact business objectives. This position is based in the Home Office and serves as a business partner to the Senior Vice President of the Supply Chain while working closely with the Director of Domestic Distribution and Transportation. This position also provides Home Office HR/ER support to all associates in the Supply Chain department. Responsibilities: Develop and lead the execution of HR strategies and ensure their consistent implementation across the network, to include hourly staffing models that align with budgetary requirements, performance management initiatives in conjunction with a Labor Management System, and effective communication strategies for a wide range of associates. Direct a team of 8 HR Managers/Generalists located in each facility and provide guidance on day to day HR issues related to leaves of absence, compensation, benefits, and the resolution of other tactical HR issues. Partner with DC leadership team on talent management strategies, to include training initiatives, developmental goals, and succession planning. Develop tools and resources, in partnership with Home Office HR business partners, to support HR initiatives. Uphold the company's proactive employee relations and people management philosophies and ensure decisions are in the best interest of the business while taking these into consideration. Identify necessary HR intervention, provide feedback on opportunities, facilitate roundtable discussions with hourly associates and share feedback with DC leadership. Provide expertise and counsel on escalated employee relations issues. Understand unique geographic and market conditions related to compensation, labor and employment and ensure HR initiatives allow for a competitive position relative to the industry. Play an active role in the DC safety program and the reduction of OSHA recordable incidents. Identify opportunities to reinforce and prioritize safety, reduce associate injuries and minimize near misses. Qualifications: Proven ability to effectively communicate to and identify with a variety of audiences and provide a high level of service to internal customers. Capable of driving and executing strategies without losing focus on day to day tactical issues. Strong business acumen with the skill to connect HR strategy to operational results. Ability to collaborate with all levels of the HR and Supply Chain organization to identify best practices and solutions to business challenges. Working knowledge of employment and labor law. 5 - 7 years of multi-site Human Resources experience with an ability to manage from a distance. 4 year degree in Human Resources or a related field. Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, on some occasion with short notice.
