Director of Creative Services

Summary:  Directs the creation of catalogs and direct marketing programs for the travel division and VDMS programs as required. Maintains a high level of design and copy quality throughout all materials. Mentors individuals in the Creative Department on how to produce cleaner and better-printed materials. Guides career development of individuals in Creative Department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Leads the initial creative meetings, helping to identify overall goals and messages to meet the project needs.

 

Oversees the on time design and mailing of catalogs, brochures and other direct mail pieces.

 

Conceptualizes and creates overall design concept including estimates, assumptions, scope, and creative designs.

 

Communicates design goals and messages to creative team, ensuring integration of design requirements into all phases of production.

 

Leads creative idea sessions to ensure highest creative quality is met for each project.

 

Develops out-of-the-box ideas and helps identify the ideas with the best solutions. Oversees and guides activities of design team members.

 

Creates and maintains a consistent and appropriate look for projects and collateral pieces.

 

Develops or refines the design process to reflect technical requirements of delivery platform.

 

Oversees the writing of compelling and on-target copy.

 

Executes the design of all major components of company Web site.

 

Researches and analyzes industry trends and maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and creative techniques.

 

Participates in new product development and all phases of the design process to ensure a high level of creativity.

 

Subscribes to all relevant competitive companies to ensure the receipt of marketing materials in order to monitor trends in the marketplace regarding products, promotional activities, creative strategies, etc.

Education/Experience:

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
