DIRECTOR, TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
POSITION SUMMARY:
· Provides leadership for the development of all curriculum development and instructional delivery, ensuring sequential learning experiences for all associates at all levels in the organization.
· Establishes and communicates overall department vision, objectives, policies, and programs that support the skills training and/or leadership development initiatives for all associates.
· Develops strategic planning for, and implementation of, corporate leadership development and skills training programs.
· Ensures consistent delivery and application of training standards throughout the organization.
· Oversees planning, prioritization and development of new learning and development initiatives, ensuring they are consistent with the business strategy and needs of the organization.
· Participates in strategic planning to support corporate programs, including support of succession planning initiatives and performance management, insuring alignment with other key initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Develops and maintains strategic alliances with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize training needs which align with, and support, the business strategy
· Partners with corporate and division stakeholders to establish and maintain training metrics to evaluate effectiveness of learning outcomes on the achievement of business results
· Communicates the vision and establishes the processes for the development and delivery of high quality training programs, within an overall curriculum, using a variety of media
· Oversees the analysis, development, and implementation of an LMS (Learning Management System) that supports role based curricula, as well as schedules and tracks training completion for all associates
· Ensures strategic partnerships with the web-based learning and Kroger television teams to provide high-quality training programs
· Supervises and coaches direct reports in the performance of their duties, completes performance reviews and provides feedback
· Prepares, monitors and achieves results within approved training department budget
· Develops and manages internal and external alliances and partnership with training providers (divisions, 3rd party consultants, etc.)
· Directs the preparation, maintenance and communication of metrics reports for Corporate Leadership and Business Units
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Masters Degree in Business, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Adult Learning, Education, or related discipline
· Six years experience directing and successfully implementing corporate leadership development and skills training programs
· Demonstrated success at developing and executing an effective training and development strategy for a large organization
· Demonstrated success in working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans
· Demonstrated understanding of current advanced instructional design principles, methods, techniques and standards
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to influence others, skill and diplomacy in dealing with people.
· Strong ability to be self-directed in planning own work and work of teams
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; strong organizational skills

DESIRED PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE:
· Experience in strategic design and implementation of corporate training curriculums
· Budget responsibility for large-scale training programs
· Knowledge and experience in distance learning, blended learning and related technologies (Web-Based, elearning, video, instructor-led training, and job aids)
· Experience managing all phases of the training project lifecyle: assessment, design, development, delivery, evaluation
