We encourage our employees to succeed professionally and maximize their potential by becoming part of our dynamic team.The Health Initiatives Department, located in Pleasanton California has an opening for a Director, Health Initiatives.Qualifications: • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in health services research, actuarial science, mathematics or related fields/equivalent experience • General business knowledge and interest; MBA or equivalent preferred• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a healthcare analytics or healthcare management consulting environment, including 3 years of experience managing senior level reports and staff• Healthcare industry experience in one or more of the following areas preferred – healthcare management consulting, provider reimbursement, account reporting, health services research, medical cost analysis, actuarial/underwriting, clinical pharmacy analytics and/or clinical quality management• Management roles and experience in large, complex, integrated/distributed healthcare system, as well as provider networks and healthcare services outcomes research• Demonstrated experience in supporting the development of healthcare data roadmaps and strategies, as well as complex healthcare data architectures• Strategic thinking and a general management perspective; The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to analyze and think about healthcare issues and opportunities from a general management perspective• Strong analytical skills including hypothesis generation, issue identification, analysis design, well-structured analysis, and conclusion development• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills• Excellent leadership and management skills, including project management• Ability to function independently and with minimal supervision • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and conduct/support multiple projects simultaneously• Strong communication skills – written and oral; Experience in preparing and delivering executive presentations• Flexibility and ability to react swiftly to changing conditions and priorities; demonstrated ability to multi-task• Proficiency in software applications including (Microsoft Office, Excel macro language programming, advanced presentation applications such as COREL Draw, most SAS modules, Symmetry’s Episode Risk Groups product – or other similar health risk assessment tools, and SAS/IBM mining applications) Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Support Safeway’s healthcare data warehouse infrastructure development and define business requirements and processes for data acquisition and reporting• Provide in-depth analysis for Safeway’s healthcare programs – including clinical quality management, pharmacy, provider functions, healthcare utilization, cost trends, and impact on employee and Safeway economics• As part of ongoing continuous quality improvement, review current healthcare programs for opportunities to improve effectiveness, and reduce health risks and costs• Identify healthcare data requirements to integrate new data sources or develop new systems• Assist the development of processes/architecture to combine medical, pharmacy, laboratory and other healthcare claims data into one integrated database – healthcare informatics• Design and develop healthcare data methodologies and tools for predictive analysis• Develop and implement appropriate metrics to measure the success of all healthcare programs – both current and new• Assess and understand Safeway’s existing healthcare data infrastructure and its capabilities; Perform gap analysis, identify and assess alternatives, and develop recommendations to fill gaps• Work with Safeway’s third-party data architect to meet new healthcare program development and data integration needs• Monitor emerging healthcare data technologies and assess their applicability to Safeway – potential opportunities and competitive challenges • Identify opportunities to leverage, scale and lower expenses.
