Director, Digital Content (Business Development/Strategic Partnerships)

Barnes & Noble is looking for an experienced, high energy results-oriented professional to develop and manage strategic digital publishing relationships and digital content acquisition. Responsibilities include:

Creating and managing relationships with third party media companies, authors or other intellectual rights holders – developing strong relationships with content holders that enhances content holders willingness to participate in Barnes & Noble sponsored digital endeavors



Structuring, negotiating and creating profitable strategic partnerships with content vendors.



Collaborative interaction with legal and the ability to effectively interpret contractual terms and conditions related to content licensing.



Contribute to the strategic development of B&N digital program



Responsible for timely delivery and quality of digital assets



Contribute to the strategic development of site features and functionality as it relates to digital text content.



Requirements:

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent negotiation skills.



Ability to work in a fast paced collaborative and evolving environment. A willingness to operate outside one’s comfort zone to achieve outstanding results.



Knowledge and passion for technology.



Experience with MS office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel and Access).



7+ years of relevant work experience in sales/business development experience. Prior experience creating profitable partnerships. Prior ecommerce, content acquisition and/or publishing experience a plus.



A bachelors’s degree is required; an MBA is strongly preferred.
