The attorney will work on regulatory issues, including product safety, OSHA compliance, environmental regulations, and various state and federal regulations related to selling products. In addition, this position will provide counseling to the Loss Prevention organization, including the Corporate Safety organization.QualificationsRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:·Draft, review, and negotiate contracts on behalf of Sears and Kmart ·Provide counseling on regulatory issues·Support the Environment Affairs team·Provide counseling to merchant organizations on regulatory issues related to the selling of products·Provide counseling to the Loss Prevention organization, including the Safety and Hazmat CURRENT COMPETENCIES/SKILLS/LEADERSHIP SKILLS:·Experience with contract negotiations and drafting·Experience with regulatory agencies, including CPSC, OSHA, EPA, CARB·Experience with State and Federal Deceptive Trade Practice law and regulation·Strong analytical skills·Judgment, including ability to determine appropriate allocation of limited resources among competing priorities·Ability to partner with outside counsel and business clients to drive projects to successful conclusion·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)·Creative problem-solving skills·Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities PRIOR JOB EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:·J.D. Degree Required·3-5 years experience in a law firm or in house handling regulatory mattersSears is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
