Category Manager

Imperial Distributors, a leader in the distributing and merchandising of the highest quality supermarket non food products, is looking for a Conscientious, Detail Oriented and Enthusiastic person to join our world-class, highly successful company as a Category Manager. In this position you will be responsible for managing the assigned merchandise categories to maximize sales while optimizing gross margin and turns. You will be interviewing and negotiating with manufacturers and vendors. An important aspect of this position is developing and implementing categorey strategic plans i.e. weekly, monthly, and annual sales and promotional programs. You will be partnering with the Sales Team in optimizing the SKU mix, sales, and gross margin budgets for the assigned categories in addition to developing and executing customer specific programs. This important position requires proactive communication and assessment of the need for immediate actions.

 

Interested candidates need to possess merchandising & marketing experience in a retail or wholesale environment. A bachelors degree or equivilent business school training is preferred.  Purchasing experience working in a non foods environment a definite plus. Strong PC Skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as communications and analytical skills is required. Occasional travel including some overnights and weekends is required.
