Position Description:

The Corporate Labor Analysis / Productivity Strategies Department, located in Pleasanton, California, has an opening for a Business / Sr. Business Analyst. Key Responsibilities / Opportunities include, but are not limited to:• Providing analytical support for labor contract negotiations.• Development and utilization of labor / human resource based analytics to support cost reduction initiatives.• Development, maintenance and reporting in MS Access databases. • Development of advanced Excel models to efficiently analyze and report various labor metrics, including but not limited to use of VBA to facilitate automated spreadsheet functionality. • Modification of existing data systems to provide scalability and automation of detailed reporting and data manipulation (I.e. Micro Strategy, Crystal Reports & Essbase).• Collaboration and analysis of comprehensive data from multiple sources (Peoplesoft, Teradata, Essbase & Lawson).• Develop and customize planning and forecasting models or applications to support annual planning and forecasting needs. • Work with Retail Divisions, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources and Retail Operations for initiative development, support, analysis and reporting. • Support Business Units in ad hoc analysis and reporting.• Providing strategic analysis and advice to management regarding:o Labor productivity / cost reduction opportunitieso Identification of labor cost trends, issues and environmental influences when evaluating actual results vs. plan/forecast • Working on special projects as assigned by management.Qualifications: The following are required:• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related equivalent work experience.• Financial Planning experience.• Intermediate - Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and using Access based databases for analysis and reporting.• Experience with financial modeling, forecasting and theory analysis.• Excellent analytical skills including NPV and IRR analysis.• Willingness to learn mainframe applications.• Flexible and creative problem solver.• Must have initiative and be self-motivated.• Must have good interpersonal skills and be a team player.The following are desired or preferred and not required for consideration:• Advanced Database skills including development, maintenance, analysis, and report generation from large databases including working knowledge of SQL and VBA.• Experience in the creation, modification, and support of Essbase cubes including calculation, report scripts and load rules.• Experience in mainframe data extracting, manipulating and reporting including use of Microstrategy and Crystal Reports.• Experience using Peoplesoft or other HRMS applications.Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Respond to: Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a resume by visiting www.safeway.com/careers
